I'm not sure what you mean by "better", but here are some things to do, so that it can have more fun;
1.) Dye it. Put a little cold in the veins, or a completely different cast.
2.) Braid. Here are some great styles braid;

try braiding or wrapping it in a bun overnight and will be available in the morning
or perhaps you could add layers and highlights.

Sounds like you look good for a few glimmers of high lighter than your hair. This would give him a nervous breakdown look, classic and more mature.
