Why are things so expensive in Canada? - www.google.de

Merry X-Mas to all! I checked some prices and bar codes on my Christmas, it seems that Canadians pay much, much more than we do. For example, the book says here that "U.S. $ 16.00 CAN. $ 23.50. Google tells me $ 23.50 Canadian dollars = 23.8554375. It's crazy! Book for a $ 16!?

Country 5 times larger than the United States and one tenth of the population ... high taxes are necessary for the maintenance of infrastructure .... Saskatchewan, a province of average size has one million people in the northern border south to place Montana, Wyoming and Colorado ... to pay costs to the streets ....

High standard of living, extra large country with a small population, high wages, high taxes (and our doctors have a good piece of cake).

The Canadian dollar was much weaker than the U.S. dollar, should therefore logically more money to Canada to buy something that American money. Now that the Canadian dollar is worth more than the United States, are reserved for the Canadians at the beginning of the large price decline in most retailers.

I think the reason things are so expensive in Canada was in reasonable margins and high tariffs on imports. When the dollar was in better health, go to the dollar (one dollar) was trading for just 60 cents.

Unfortunately for Canadian consumers, retailers have continued charging inflated prices, even when both currencies were at par! And to make matters worse (if possible), the federal and state level tax now on almost all goods and services amounted to 14 percent off. There are also hidden taxes in many price tags.

On the positive side, Canadians enjoy a relatively free health care and higher wages than we Americans. Not to mention the chance to buy at the border to mention our cheap gasoline (petrol) Cross, cars, clothing and a whole series of things.
